Reporting:
The Director of Product Engineering shall report to the VP of Consumer Products reporting into the Engineering organization.
Job Summary:
The Director of Product Engineering is chartered with leadership of the day-to-day product development activities for any and all hardware products developed by Sezmi The DOPD will be responsible for set-top box system specification, circuit design, layout management, testing and moving hardware from the lab to production. In addition, the candidate will leverage his/her knowledge in the development and production of user interface devices, RF reception systems, and antenna development.
The DOPD will work closely with other Sezmi internal development technical resources to complete his/her job responsibilities. International travel is required in this role.
Responsibilities:
- BS (EE) or MS (CS or EE)
- Proven leadership and interpersonal skills
- 10+ years work experience in volume consumer product development and manufacture
- Extensive knowledge of the product development process
- Experience in RF systems and/or video technologies
- ATSC digital TV
- DVB
- Wifi, WiMAX or other wireless broadband technologies
- Experience in networking
- Ethernet, HPNA, WiFi, HomePlug, MoCA
- Excellent writing and verbal skills (English)
- Proficiency with Excel, Word, Microsoft Project
- Experience with circuit design tools like OrCAD or Altium
- Excellent bench skills
- Deliver products for Sezmi customers (trial, test and production)
- Set top box
- Set top box remote control
- Reception system
- Antenna
- Own the technical relationship between outside suppliers and internal Sezmi technology suppliers (e.g. Sezmi software developers)
- Establish and manage product development schedules per device.
- Support Operations during field and commercial trials:
- Training
- Documentation
- Establish candidate list of new technologies for future generations of Sezmi products
- Matrix management responsibilities
